CELTIC and Barcelona directors were today treated to a musical extravaganza at the official UEFA lunch, courtesy of several schools on Celtic FC Foundation’s music project.
The guests were entertained by primary school kids from St Anne’s school of music close to Celtic Park, traditional music from Oban High School and sensational performances from the Royal Conservatoire and young people from Smithycroft School in Riddrie.
St Anne’s Primary pupils performed Highland Cathedral and the Barcelona Hymn to the delight of the visiting directors.
Dalmarnock Primary presented a 3D sculpture to the Catalan giants, which they produced with Glasgow Caledonian University, and they were also given a portrait of the late Johan Cruyff in Barca colours, painted by former Smithycroft pupil, Elise Prentice.
Celtic FC Foundation have organised similar performances featuring other schools on the project for the past few years, including Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach from this season.
Music and digital education is a key focus area for the Foundation and continues to create opportunities for children which otherwise would not be available.
