Exciting times ahead for Celtic FC Foundation

AS the Easter weekend approaches and the clocks advance one hour, Celtic FC Foundation are keeping up with the times and moving forward.

The Foundation have a teeming calendar of fundraising initiatives and it all starts this Saturday, March 26 with our second annual Zip Slide in Paradise event.

Over 100 supporters have signed up, and among them will be Celtic legend Danny McGrain, as the former Celtic captain has generously pledged his support to soar across Paradise.

Closely following the Zip Slide, the night of Thursday, March 31 marks Celtic FC Foundation’s sold-out annual Sporting Dinner.

The Sporting Dinner has been a club tradition for 20 years, and next week’s event promises to be another remarkable night celebrating Celtic’s illustrious charitable heritage.

If you missed out on our annual Sporting Dinner, we have the perfect follow up on Sunday, May 1, as we invite you to remember one of Celtic’s truly unforgettable title triumphs commemorating The Heroes of ‘86.

This event rejoices in the memory of that historic day at Love Street, as we gather the likes of Davie Hay, Murdo MacLeod and another of the guests of honour, Albert Kidd, to relive their stories, anecdotes and euphoria from one of the most compelling chapters in the Celtic story.

An evening of nostalgia, spectacle and elation, The Heroes of ‘86 night will feature footage from the day, a two-course meal as well as an auction and prize draw. Places are available at £40 per person or £400 for a table of 10.

In association with our Supporters’ Committee, the month of May also sees the return of the Foundation’s traditional Badge Day collection, taking place pre-match on the final home game of the season.

This year, we asked supporters between the ages of seven and 16 to submit their artistic efforts, with the winning entry due to be revealed in the coming few days.

As we move further into the summer months, thoughts turn to fairways and flagpoles as Celtic FC Foundation’s annual Golf Day tees off on Thursday, June 23 at the friendly and accommodating surroundings of Renfrew Golf Club.

On the back of last year’s sold-out event, the 2016 Golf Day will once again give you the chance to pit your wits against a team of Celtic legends, as well as enjoying a fantastic three-course meal, auction, entertainment and prize draw.

Supporting the work of Celtic FC Foundation’s acclaimed Ability Counts project, the cost to enter a team of four is £400 with participants also having the opportunity to invite friends and partners for the afternoon lunch and entertainment at a cost of £40 per place.

While this provides a basic overview of the Foundation’s fundraising activity for the coming months, stay tuned for news of our trip to Malawi (in association with Mary’s Meals) as well as details of an exciting, new challenge, due to be announced very shortly, encompassing the most legendary facets of Celtic’s history under our banner of Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty (think HELP).

Speaking about these upcoming events, Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton, said: “This is another extremely busy time for everyone connected with Celtic FC Foundation and we’re delighted that we have such incredible backing at home and abroad.

“The massive difference our project delivery is making to people’s lives is only possible because of that support, and we are extremely grateful that the wider Celtic fanbase recognise what we are doing and why we are doing it.”
