CELTIC FC Foundation is today (Monday) delighted to announce the launch of a new schools project, as part of our Football for Good Fund. A total donation of over £30,000 will be provided to 12 local schools and nurseries to help support pupils and families throughout the current COVID-19 crisis.

Around 1,600 pupils and families will benefit from the support measures provided, which include family cooking packs and activity boxes which we hope will help to alleviate some of the mental health issues brought on by the financial burdens people are currently facing.

The generous £30,000 funding donation has now been allocated to 12 schools and nurseries. They are: Barmulloch Primary School, Broomlea Primary School, Cranhill Primary School, Keppoch Nursery, Royston Nursery, Royston Primary School, Saracen Primary School, St Francis Primary School, St Mungo’s Primary School, St Roch’s Primary School, Stepping Stones Nursery and St Teresa’s Primary School.

The schools project represents another milestone for the Football for Good Fund, with a total of £450,000 having already been committed through the campaign. Our priority during this time remains to put food on the table, as well as to distribute urgent essentials to those most in need.

Thus far we have provided funds to around 55 organisations supporting vulnerable children, families and the homeless and launched two projects through our partnership with Glasgow North-East Foodbank – a free self-referral service providing food parcels for people living in Glasgow affected by the current COVID-19 crisis, as well as a service providing food parcels to those who have been discharged from hospital – to ensure that they have access to food upon returning home.

We have also worked in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) and Cathedral House to deliver 100 hot meals to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary every day for NHSGGC staff across all roles and wards.

Separately, our support has also extended to additional locations in Scotland, England and Ireland, including Skye, Greenock, Oban, Edinburgh, London, Newcastle, Dublin and Belfast. In addition, we have supported two partner charities in New York, Coalition for the Homeless and Childrens Aid, to provide food and essentials to vulnerable children and families in the city.

Celtic FC Foundation is hugely appreciative of everyone who has supported the Football for Good Fund so far and we will continue to harness this goodwill and support those most at need in these uncertain and difficult times.
