Success of Clover & Dove Charity ball

THE inaugural Clover and Dove Ball, sponsored by Wallace Quinn & Co, was held on Saturday night at the Glasgow City Hotel and proved to be a huge success.

This was a partnership initiative between Celtic FC Foundation and the St Andrew’s Hospice Capital Appeal, two charities with a common goal – to help the most vulnerable in our communities.

A magnificent total of £30,000 was raised and this will be split equally between the two beneficiaries.

Celtic FC Foundation strives to honour the humble and charitable beginnings of the Football Club. Almost 130 years later, Brother Walfrid would be proud of the work being undertaken in our local communities to help those facing hardship and disadvantage.

St Andrew’s Hospice is 30-years-old this year and the Capital Appeal has been tasked with raising £9million to upgrade the Hospice and make it fit for the future. The essential development work will ensure the facility matches the high standards of care provided for patients in North and South Lanarkshire.

The entertainment kicked off at the drinks reception with young magician Arran Summers, event photographer Patrick McGuire and a fun open photo booth provided by McGinty’s Magic Moments.

Guests were then welcomed into the ballroom by the beautiful voice of Scottish singer, Gill Beattie.

The formalities kicked off with a welcome from hosting duo, Gerry McCulloch and Lisa Hague, followed by a note of thanks from Karen McFadyen, Director of the St Andrew’s Hospice Capital Appeal and Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton.

As well as a delicious three-course meal, the heartwarming evening also included video pieces highlighting the work of St Andrew’s Hospice and Celtic FC Foundation, an auction, silent auction, free prize draw and the opportunity to win a stunning ‘Sapphire and Diamond Dream’ gold ring.

The evening was rounded off by a fantastic live band, The Dawn Patrol, who ensured the dance-floor was packed from start to finish as our guests partied into the wee small hours.

Everyone at Celtic FC Foundation and the St Andrew’s Hospice Capital Appeal would like to thank all of those who made the Clover and Dove Ball possible – our sponsor, Wallace Quinn & Co, hosts Lisa and Gerry, reflexblue for complimentary design of event materials, Jim and Rena Gallagher from Gallagher Foods in Airdrie for donating and fitting the chair covers and bows, Williams Grant & Sons Distillers Ltd for the gifting of miniatures, Teleperformance for sponsoring our Tablet gifts, our entertainment – The Dawn Patrol, Gill Beattie and Arran Summers – the Glasgow City Hotel, OSAV, Patrick McGuire, McGinty’s Magic Moments, our volunteers and everyone who donated financial support, their valuable time or prizes for our auction, silent auction, prize draw or Sapphire and Diamond Dream.

Last but by no means least, we thank all of those who attended the inaugural Clover and Dove Ball. Please don’t under underestimate the difference you have made.
