Tom Boyd promotes Celtic FC Foundation’s charity golf day

CELTIC FC Foundation is delighted to confirm there are now only a limited number of places remaining at our 2016 annual Golf Day, which will take place at Renfrew Golf Club on Thursday, June 23.

Celtic legend and club ambassador, Tom Boyd, was an Renfrew Golf Club today to promote the event, and he will captain a team of former Celts at the Golf Day.

The beneficiary will be our award-winning Ability Counts project, which started out as a way to engage children living with Down’s Syndrome. Now, as well as continuing the vital Down’s Syndrome work, it also comprises project delivery in autism and/or complex physical disabilities. It is used to engage with children and young people who may otherwise be excluded.

The Golf Day will begin with breakfast rolls and registration. There will be a mid-morning tee off and the tournament format will consist of a shotgun start, with 21 teams of four players playing with a Texas Scramble scoring system.

The event also offers the chance to win a tremendous £5,000 hole-in-one prize as well as a host of other great prizes at holes across the course.

Among the 21 teams, there will be a specially selected group of former Celts, aiming to take the prestigious Celtic FC Foundation Golf Day trophy. Captained by Tom Boyd, the team will also include Bertie Auld and Dixie Deans, with the fourth and final member to be confirmed shortly.

The day’s activities will be rounded off with a charity prize draw and auction, as well as a Q&A. There is limited availability now for this great day out, and the cost to enter a team of four for the golf day is £400

Speaking about the event, Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton said: “Last year, our inaugural Golf Day proved to be an enormously enjoyable event and I’m delighted that we are returning to the wonderfully-accommodating and friendly surroundings of Renfrew Golf Club.

“I’d also like to thank Celtic FC Foundation’s Supporters’ Committee for their continued involvement in the planning and delivery of this event. With the support of the Celtic family, we can replicate the success of 2015 and contribute further to our acclaimed Ability Counts project.”
